New footbridge at Albi proposed

Work is underway to stabilise the railway bridge over theTarn at Albi, originally built in the late 19th century. At the same time structural work for a new footbridge to link the north bank to the historic centre alongside the rail bridge have commenced. Opening in 2019 the new bridge will not only be a means of access, but will also provide spectacular views of the historic buildings around the cathedral.
The city council will make the new crossing part of the attractions of the world heritage site.
